Project Interact (Action Demonstration) Contest Scheduled

Project Interact scheduled for Saturday, June 9

4-H members (both Explorers and regular 4-Hers) are encouraged to take part in Project Interact! Project Interact is a fantastic way to complete a 4-H project.

The contest will be Saturday, June 9 at Orscheln’s in Tell City.

To participate contestants need to register by noon Friday, June 8 by contacting the Extension office. Contestants need to arrive at 12:45 p.m. and the contest will begin at 1:00 p.m. Contestants need to bring their own materials, including a table if one is needed. They will be set up outside the store and will need to engage people as they walk by. Tell them you are wanting to teach them about your 4-H project. More information is available in the handbook starting on page 27. There will be a judge who will stop by and visit.

Explorers are encouraged to participate but will not be judged.

Members can select any 4-H project to do for Project Interact. Members who participate may be selected to go to state (but only state fair projects are allowed to be demonstrated at state.)

Quick note for Jr. Leaders

Tonight’s 4-H Jr. Leader meeting begins at 6:00 p.m., the approximate time a winter storm might be moving in. The meeting is still on but I would advise the following:

If the roads are already slick and hazardous do not risk your life by coming to the meeting. Or if you fear the roads will become slick, again…don’t risk your life.

If it is safe to come to the meeting, I just wanted to let you know we will keep an eye on the roads. If they look to be slick members can leave early. Parents, PLEASE BE PREPARED TO PICK YOUR CHILDREN EARLY. For Jr. Leaders who drive themselves, they must advise their parents BEFORE you leave the meeting if we dismiss early. This is just so parents will know how soon to expect you home.

Since we do not know exactly what will happen weather-wise tonight, I just want everyone to be safe. While the meeting is scheduled to end at 8:00 p.m., we might have to end early so families can return home before the roads get hazardous. PLEASE BE PREPARED.

Feel free to call the restaurant and ask for me (with the 4-H group) if you have any questions. I do have a cell but sometimes I don’t have a signal in Fiesta Grande.

BE SAFE!

Think Summer Fun in the Sun!

Perry County 4-H Families, There might be snow in the forecast for this weekend, but I’m thinking summer fun in the sun! That’s right…4-H Camp will be here before you know it!

4-H members in 9th-12th, this is just a reminder that 4-H Camp Counselor applications are due IN THE EXTENSION OFFICE by next Friday, February 17. All eligible members should have received a postcard in the mail. You may download an application by going to the 4-H Camp website: http://www.ag.purdue.edu/counties/perry/Pages/4-HCamp.aspx. The application lists the dates for planning meetings. Also, remember counselors that the 4-H Council pays for you to attend 4-H Camp if you are a counselor (since you will be working!)

For members who are in grades 3rd-8th, you may attend 4-H camp! The same website has an application. Postcards will soon be going out to families to let them know that we are accepting 4-H camp applications. The cost is only $50 per camper! That is because there were contributions made to the 4-H Council specifically to make 4-H camp more affordable!

As always, if you can’t print an application please contact our office and we would be happy to snail mail you one.

Don’t wait! Go ahead and book your spot now!
